But another salad rival could beat Sweetgreen to the punch: Salad and Go. One of its 48 ounce salads costs less than $7 and comes with chicken or tofu, while a comparable salad from Sweetgreen costs about $12. Two years later, Morrison took over as chief executive, departing Wall Street's favorite chicken wing chain after a decade in favor of a little-known salad chain that then had only 50 locations. Other salad players, such as Sweetgreen, Just Salad or Salata, are usually in the same markets as Salad and Go.

Why it matters: The count of publicly listed companies traded on US exchanges has fallen substantially from its peak in 1996. It’s not that America has half as many companies as 30 years ago – it’s that companies are increasingly staying private, largely outside the scrutiny of the public eye. Publicly listed companies are subject to regulatory oversight and disclosure requirements, which help ensure transparency and maintain investor confidence. “I think it’s natural that companies would delay going public when valuations get halved and investors are not enthusiastic about investing in new companies,” said Kennedy. Some private equity funds have even taken advantage of the bear market to buy up publicly traded companies.

Conditions in county jails aren’t just bad for people suffering from mental illnesses. A small bag of freeze-dried coffee that costs $3.34 in state prison cost almost $13 in County. Phone calls to our loved ones, which cost just over a dollar for 20 minutes at a Washington State prison, cost nearly $4 from the county jail. We have to care about what’s happening in county jails if we are to make our communities safer. With positive changes, people confined in county jail could come out of their stays better equipped to thrive in their communities.

The Credit Card Competition Act of 2022 has been added to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This amendment, which would affect both Visa and Mastercard, will work to increase competition between credit card issuers. Currently, Visa and Mastercard account for nearly 83% of the credit card market, leading to a massive duopoly with little competition. While the Credit Card Competition Act of 2022 has the potential to force merchants to accept more credit cards, it may also backfire on those who collect credit card rewards. We'll see if — and when — the Credit Card Competition Act of 2022 is passed.
